Female Seeds is a brand with deep roots in Amsterdam. Its creator, Ferry—an engineer by education and a gardener by vocation—had been collecting and growing regular strains since the late 1980s, gradually developing feminization techniques. At first he produced seeds on a small scale, but growing interest and the problem of unstable female seeds led him to found a company that officially launched a line of feminized seeds in 2003. Since then, Female Seeds has become synonymous with reliability and affordability for gardeners worldwide.

Ferry developed methods that enabled the production of seeds with near-100% feminization, eliminating the problem of male plants in cultivation. Pure AK is a fast hybrid with a spicy aroma and an energetic high, while C99 (a Jack Herer x Shiva Skunk cross) impresses with a strong citrus note and psychoactive effects. Autoflower strains like Auto White Widow and Auto Northern Lights retain the aromas of their photoperiod parents and complete the cycle in 9–10 weeks. The portfolio also includes Grapefruit—a plant with a pronounced grapefruit scent and an intoxicating, long-lasting high—and Auto Tropic Haze, a fast auto with an intensely citrus-tropical profile.

Female Seeds cares about the environment and sustainable production. Seeds are produced in small batches, and packaging is made from recyclable materials. The company invests in research to reduce water use in nurseries and supports tree-planting projects. Ferry and his team regularly engage with the grower community, organizing workshops and webinars on feminization techniques, safe germination, and optimal cultivation.

Growing Female Seeds is beginner-friendly. Plants prefer a moderate feeding regime and can be trained with LST, topping, or the Screen of Green technique to increase yield. It’s recommended to provide 600–800 µmol/m²/s during flowering and maintain temperatures around 24–26 °C. Autoflower varieties run on an 18/6 cycle throughout and perform well in 9–11 l pots. Thanks to careful selection, plants show high stress tolerance and mold resistance, making them ideal for first-time growers.
